Earlier this week we met with the Barangay council, which is roughly the equivalent to a governing body for a neighborhood. There we told them that we were here from America to take pictures of the demolition and publish the stories of the injustice happening to the people. Around half of the council members have had their homes destroyed, including the Barangay leader.
Yet for all those who have had their livelihoods stripped from them, some of the council members work in support of the landowner in order to gain from their colleagues loss. It is a marvel to me that these men are able to work together at all.
Hopefully today we will meet with the Municipal Mayor of this region in order to have him provide an answer for this malicious and greedy destruction.
